Centurion®
Ultra-compact, relocatable, high-brightness 1-5 MeV-class linear accelerator
At less than 2.2 meters long and 350 kg in weight on mobile cart,
Centurion® is an easy-to-deploy, high-energy, high-intensity radio-frequency quadrupole (RFQ) ion accelerator suitable for applications such as neutron interrogation, proton injection, isotope generation and nuclear analysis. |
Patented innovations in RF power delivery, pulsed microwave plasma source, low-emittance ion injection, high-flux thermal management, high-gradient ion acceleration, and novel fabrication methods enable a powerful, versatile, ultra-compact LINAC with high-brightness output. The Centurion can fit through standard doors and elevators.
|
Direct 600MHz RF injection and using the RFQ cavity itself as the power combiner... the Centurion eliminates entire racks of equipment, bulky waveguides and power losses in the RF drive train... resulting in a compact, efficient and transportable system that can be run off standard wall-plug power or batteries.
|
The entire system fits on a small cart,
uses standard wall power and is air cooled. Beam energy: 1-5 MeV (3.86 MeV deuterons / 1.93 MeV protons Mk I standard)
Current: 10-50 μA @ 0.6% duty factor Mk I standard Spot size: 0.5 mm for deuterons / 0.3 mm for protons, at RFQ exit plane The Centurion® can be customized for your specific application using our unique fabrication process leveraging additive manufacturing and IMPULSE® high-power impulse magnetron sputter deposition.
Sized to fit through a standard door, inside building elevators and transport in cargo van, the Centurion® is deployable within your existing facility to save engineering time, minimize regulatory burden and lower total cost. |
